Orbit licenses selected narrative true crime series on a non-exclusive basis for an agreed term. The rights holder receives an advance against a share of advertising revenue.
We re-release the series in The Burden, Orbit’s ongoing feed of limited-series true crime. Each episode includes a new introduction.
Orbit produces bonus content, including a conversation with the creator, giving listeners another way into the story and the reporting behind it.
Each series receives a new title, original artwork for the re-release, and a dedicated marketing campaign.
The original podcast remains available in its existing feed. Advertising revenue from the licensed release is shared with the rights holder.
A campaign for each release
Orbit supports each re-release with a coordinated marketing campaign.
- New trailers
- Cross-promotion
- Platform pitches
- Media pitches

Case study: Get the Money and Run

Re-released May 2025
A second release for Bank Robber Diaries
In 2018, Acast funded and distributed Bank Robber Diaries, produced by Western Sound / Ben Adair. The series performed well at launch, but over the following years its original feed became largely inactive.
Orbit licensed the series, retitled it Get the Money and Run, created new artwork and a trailer, produced two bonus episodes, and released it through The Burden.
- Orbit’s Apple Podcasts pitch led to the top position in the featured carousel on the Apple Podcasts homepage.
- Cross-promotion reached listeners in Orbit’s feed and other true crime podcasts.
- Media outreach resulted in a CNN.com feature and a guest appearance by the podcast’s subject on The Jordan Harbinger Show.
Get the Money and Run reached No. 10 on Apple Podcasts’ Top Series chart.
